Cactus is now Australia’s longest-running serial

How Green Was My Cactus has taken over as Australian radio’s longest-running syndicated program.

The political satire series, starring Keith Scott and Robyn Moore, started on air in 1986 and has been broadcast ever since.

To celebrate the milestone, producers have re-released the original five 'Cactus Cassettes' on CD.

Cactus takes over from previous record holder Blue Hills which was a serial about families in the town of Tanimbla.

It ran for 27 years with 5,795 episodes from 1949 to 1976.
