Brissy/GC stations help out Radio Lollipop

Staff Writer

Today, many radio stations in Brisbane and the Gold Coast are joining forces to help raise money for Radio Lollipop.

Nova 106.9, 97.3FM, Triple M, B105, 4BC, 4KQ and 4BH, along with 612 ABC and ABC Gold Coast, aim to raise $500,000.

These funds will help Radio Lollipop re-locate their studios and equipment to the upgraded Queensland's Children Hospital, the new Gold Coast University Hospital and the new children's wing at Logan Hospital.

Radio Lollipop chairman Bruce Uhlhorn says:

“These new hospital designs tend to focus on single wards, so it's one child per ward which places these children in isolation. This underscores the need for a service like Radio Lollipop… it's nice to talk to people, and interact in games to overcome sickness."

“Radio Lollipop believes laughter is the best medicine."

The stations will donate air time while 612 ABC's Kelly Higgins-Devine will broadcast from Radio Lollipop this afternoon.

ABC Local Radio spoke with Radio Lollipop Gold Coast chairperson Martine Simmons about the great work they do :-
