Briggs lands Beats 1 radio show ‘The New Australia’

Former Assistant Editor

Multi-talented musician and songwriter Briggs has joined a select few Aussies to be given their own Beats 1 radio show.

‘The New Australia’ is set to celebrate an emerging wave of local hip-hop talent out of Australia.

Briggs, one half of A.B Original, will showcase artists like Kwame, Jaycee, Sampa the Great, B Wise, Baker Boy and more.

“It’s letting people around the world into what’s happening here, and I think it’s going to be a good outlet here,” Briggs tells SMH.

“Like, I remember the first time I got a song played on Triple J, I was buggin’. And if I had access like this to just get a song up, that’s a little thing that can push you to the next level and keep you going.”

In landing the new gig, Briggs joins names including Elton John, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Major Lazer, and fellow Aussie Alison Wonderland in an exclusive list of artists to host their own Beats 1 shows.
