Veteran radio personality Brian Carlton has resigned from his award-winning Tasmania Talks morning talk show.

Carlton says he’s leaving for “personal reasons” and remains on “good terms” with the network.

“I’m grateful to the company for the opportunity to launch a talk show in Northern Tasmania,” said Carlton.

“I’ve become genuinely attached to my audience and the Tasmania Talks team. I appreciate the warmth and support I’ve received over the journey.

“I’m leaving for personal reasons and remain on good terms with Grant Broadcasters. My commitment, passion and belief in Tasmania remains unwavering.”

Tasmania Talks launched in September 2015 across five stations owned by Grant Broadcasters; 89.3 LAFM Launceston, 7SD 95.7 Scottsdale, 105.1 St Marys, 92.1 St Helens, 98.9 7AD Devonport, 100.9 7BU Burnie, and 7XS West Coast.

In a statement sent to media on Saturday (Oct 5), Tasmanian Broadcasters executive general manager Tim Holder confirmed that Carlton’s last shift will be on Friday, October 25.

“We understand Brian’s decision to move on and wish him well for the future,” added Holder.

“The company is appreciative of what Brian and his team has achieved, particularly in the area of service to the communities in which Tasmania Talks is broadcast.”

Hopefully the Libs as well as Senator (ex Senator) and now Senator again Lambie find he next shock jock for LAFM has the same right wing leanings..
In saying that, a great broadcaster, as evidenced by the audience numbers.

Good luck and peace to Brian Carlton moving forward, but he was just a divisive, right-wing shock jock in the end who praised every viewpoint which aligned with conservatism and the Liberal government, and belittled or ignored every other opposing viewpoint in the community. Real life is so much more more diverse than all that. Radio designed to make people unnecessarily angry. Maybe Brian had had enough of play acting in the end?

Soooo much enjoyed your show whilst in the north of the state, made travelling their more enjoyable. Extremely intelligent, logical and extraordinary interviewer. I suspect Brian is A type personality which would grate with the generals, unfortunately Brian as some have learnt over the journey in the P.C. world we now inhabit always agree with the generals even when they are blatantly incorrect.

Could we maybe see him back at Triple M or at the very least see him do a ATFS style podcast again? 😉

Brian, I’d like to say you will be missed for all the right reasons… but at the end of the day your radio program was nothing more for you to present yourself as a self indulgent and arrogant bigot. I hope you get the mental health support you so desperately need as you confessed on air.

The fact is the station and we the listeners need Brian Carlton back as the program is nothing without the interest and input that he created. Please bring him back, your current program is boring and way off the interest and presentation we expect.
Thankyou,
Brian Butler,
