Brand new talent quest for 2TM Tamworth

Reporter

2TM Tamworth is excited to announce a brand new talent quest, 2TM Discovered.

Deep seated in 2TM’s history is the creation of not just the Tamworth Country Music Festival, but talent quests with major success.  Of note is Starmaker, which started in 1979 and is still being held today, 43 years later.

2TM is reclaiming its history, connection and involvement by discovering new talent through the introduction of the inaugural DISCOVERED talent quest.

Budding artists are invited to submit a demo to 2TM, showcasing their talent as an entrant into the 2023 2TM DISCOVERED quest.

5 finalists will be chosen from the submissions, and invited to perform at the DISCOVERED concert, on stage at Centrepoint Tamworth, during the 2023 Tamworth Country Music Festival.  The DISCOVERED CONCERT will be hosted by 2TM’s brekky announcer, Monte Irvine.

A panel of three recognized judges will decide the winner on the day at the conclusion of the performances of the 5 finalists.

2TM will provide the winner with a trophy, and offer airtime to the winner.

Centrepoint Tamworth will provide a prize to the value of $500 in Centrepoint Giftcards.

2TM General Manager, Nikki Kenwrick says “It’s important to 2TM’s heritage that we continue to play an important and ongoing role in the TCMF which was created by the station in 1973.  2TM DISCOVERED has the real potential to help launch successful careers for upcoming artists and if we can be part of their journey, we couldn’t be prouder.”

Submissions open on 1st August 2022 and will close on 30th November 2022.  The 5 finalists will be revealed on December 1st, and an interview with each artist will feature, one per day the following week.

The 2TM Discovered concert will be held on Centre Stage with media partners, Centrepoint Tamworth on Friday 20th January from 10am.
