Billy Healy’ Surprise Award.

It started out as an interview with 4BU’s Wide Bay Today  Billy Healy, but it was actually a surprise award presentation for Billy from the Rotary Club of Bundaberg City Daybreak

“The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and education programmes and is named for our Founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with 3 business associates in 1905” said Moe Turaga

“Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of The Rotary Foundation, which Billy’s clearly does”.

Bundaberg Broadcasters’ General Manager Trish Mears was delighted to help coordinate the “surprise”. “When Lloyd and Moe (from Rotary) first approached me about presenting Billy with this important humanitarian Award, I was delighted to help make it happen” said Trish.

Billy Healy said the Award was an honour. “Today I joined a Million other people as a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow award. Thank you to all involved. Let me quote what the certificate says because it says how I feel. "The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. William "Billy" Healy is hereby named a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world".
