Bernard Fanning & Paul Dempsey ‘rename’ Tassie town – with help from Triple M’s Kaz & Tubes
107.3 Triple M Breakfast duo Kaz & Tubes have completed their mission to successfully* rename Tasmania’s National Park as they were joined by Australian rock duo Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey, members of Fanning Dempsey National Park.
After the band skipped Tassie on their national tour, Kaz & Tubes – aka Karen McMullen and Andy ‘Tubes’ Taylor – concocted a novel way to get them to head down to the Apple Isle: renaming the picturesque town of ‘National Park’ to ‘Fanning Dempsey National Park’ in their honour.
At the time of the proposed renaming of National Park in May 2024, Bernard Fanning said: “We promise you that Fanning Dempsey National Park will come to Tasmania. We have followed with absolute joy and glee your public acts of vandalism and risking incarceration on our behalf – we will get there, I promise.”

And Fanning Dempsey made good on that promise. Bernard and Paul flew into Tassie and proudly joined Kaz & Tubes to celebrate the newly coined Fanning Dempsey National Park. A tongue-in-cheek moment, backed by genuine love for Tasmania’s natural beauty.
It’s not the first time Kaz & Tubes have landed a global name in an iconic Tassie location as they continue to deliver huge moments with the biggest names for Tassie – whether it’s flying David Walliams around the South West Wilderness or taking Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey to National Park.
Listen to Triple M Breakfast with Kaz & Tubes on 107.3 Triple M from 6am-9am.
*‘Fanning Dempsey National Park’ may, or may not, be legally binding and the sign may, or may not, be very removable.
Haven’t they already done something like this before?
