Ben Carney joins Hit Hobart as Workday announcer
Hit100.9 in Hobart has a new Workday announcer, with Ben Carney making the move to the Tasmanian capital from regional Western Australia.
Carney has been a Workday announcer in Bunbury, Western Australia, and also co-hosts the national Saturday Night Party Playlist across the Hit Network with Nathan Bongiovanni.
Carney will join the team in Hobart from Monday, August 16, but will continue to co-host the national Saturday night program with Bongiovanni.
In addition to his announcing duties, Carney also becomes operations assistant at Hit Hobart.
Carney said he’d had a great time in WA, but can’t wait to get started in Tasmania.
“I’ve had an amazing time with SCA Bunbury, working under Hit Network assistant content director for WA, Amy Collet, and the entire team here, which makes it very tough to say goodbye,” he said.
“After three and a half years, I’m ready for that next challenge and I can’t wait to join the Hobart team. I can’t wait to catch some footy with the Roos in Hobart and Hawks up in Launceston.”
SCA Hobart’s content director, Phil Bradley, said he’s excited to have Ben join the team.
“After building a loyal following in WA, Ben will deliver his genuine passion for music, he’ll love talking with Hobart and playing their favourite hits,” he said.
“Not to mention, it’s also a brilliant time to be moving to Tassie, to discover the best of the state in our #offseason.”
Carney replaces Sean Brown, who last month moved to Newcastle to become Hit 106.9’s Mornings announcer and operations assistant.
