Award winning sports journo joins The Ali Clarke Breakfast Show.

ARN has announced popular sports presenter Max Burford will join Mix 102.3’s The Ali Clarke Breakfast Show in 2023, bringing a wealth of knowledge in sport and the local community to the on-air role.

Max is already a well-known name in Adelaide due to his ongoing work with 10 News First Adelaide, which recently announced his appointment to co-front Adelaide’s 10 News First weekday bulletin next year.

Joining the team in studio this morning to share the news, Max said “I’ve been fortunate enough to have had some great mentors throughout my career, and there aren’t many better places to continue growing and learning than under the wing of Ali Clarke. The early mornings will take some getting used to, but assuming I don’t sleep through the alarm it’s going to be a whole lot of fun talking nonsense with the people of Adelaide every day.”

Ali says “From the first time I saw him host an awards night, I wanted to work with him as he’s bloody funny and a genuinely nice bloke. I can’t wait to have him as part of our family bringing all things sport and Adelaide.”

Duncan Campbell, ARN Chief Content Officer, says “It’s fantastic that Max has chosen ARN to help grow his radio career. Max is a talent of the future. I am looking forward to the relationship between Ali, Max and the team evolving on air for all of Adelaide to enjoy each morning.”

Max will be joining Ali Clarke and the rest of the on-air breakfast team – Shane Lowe, Eddie Bannon, Erin Phillips and newsreader Maria Gaban – when the show returns in January 2023.

Is there more people on the show than listeners?

Wow… how bitter and sad do you have to be to leave a comment like that. How’s your own life going? Yeah..work on that I reckon. This is another example of why I rarely visit this site. Why are these comments even being approved to be posted? Cmon now, we all need to do a little better.

I think it’s a pure masterstroke to employ a ‘talent of the future’ to help regain half of the audience Mix lost recently. I mean, you definitely wouldn’t want a ‘talent of the now’ to take a role such as this. Only a green newbie. Definitely not someone with recent full-time breakfast experience. That’s just silly. When do we think stations (programmers) might learn that TV ‘stars’ don’t equal ratings, nor do hosts just looking good on the billboard? Why don’t radio people get radio jobs anymore? Perhaps if Telstra started hiring plumbers to do telecommunications work, their business would be in the toilet too?
