Australian podcast duo release Christmas charity song for kids

The Christmas Podding podcast has kicked off its seventh season by releasing a charity-style Christmas song, highlighting the plight of thousands of children in the European Union who’ll have to experience a glitter-free festive season this year.

The EU’s recent ban on loose glitter, often found in Christmas crafts and decorating, really struck a chord with hosts of the popular Australian podcast.

Co-host Vanessa Gibson says it’s just not Christmas without glitter.

“A glitter-free Christmas will see the smiles on so many kids’ faces be wiped as they no longer get to experience what has been a tradition for decades – glittery crafts and Christmas decorations,” she says.

Fellow host Liam Renton says “I found some glitter in a body crevice last week that I recognised from the Christmas of 1994.”

“You never really get rid of glitter.  Once in your home, it’s there for life and after hearing that Christmas glitter had been banned, we asked the question: what about the poor children of the EU?”

The festive besties, who both work on Brisbane radio, enlisted the help of AI Christmas elves to write and produce the charity song to remind the rest of the world there are some kids who will never have the experience of finding pesky glitter particles for months after Christmas.

The new festive favourite called “No Glitter for Christmas (in the EU)” is being released to radio this month.

Pop up radio stations like Elf Radio are a Christmas Podding favourite, and it’s hoped the new jingle will be broadcast proudly on the digital station throughout the festive season.

Christmas Podding talks all things Christmas all year round, with daily episodes in the lead-up to Christmas Day.
