2021 ACRAs to go ahead in Sydney on October 30

Former Editor & Content Director

The Australian Commercial Radio Awards will proceed this year, Commercial Radio Australia (CRA) has confirmed, following last year’s cancellation.

The 32nd annual ACRAs will take place in Sydney at the International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour on Saturday, October 30.

Entries for the awards, covering the past two years, opened today.

CRA said it is expecting about 900 stars, personalities and executives to attend this year’s event.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring the industry together once again,” CRA’s CEO Joan Warner said.

“The ACRAs will be returning to Sydney for the first time since 2012 and we’re determined to make this a very special event for the radio teams across the country.

“We will of course have all COVID health and safety requirements in place.”

2019’s winners included WSFM’s Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller, who took out Best On-Air Team (FM).

There is no word yet on whether CRA’s associated conference, Radio Alive, traditionally held the day prior to the awards, will proceed in 2021.

Last year’s event had been scheduled to be held at the Gold Coast.

I don’t think anyone cares any more – certainly the 200 or so people I work with.
These awards are just industry people awarding themselves awards.
Doesn’t happen in any other industry.
I remember years of the personal assistants to GM’s running off a heap of nominations/entries on the photocopier, and making the staff sign it.
