Aussie presenter sweeps NY Radio Awards

Staff Writer

Australian broadcaster Joel Carnegie has done his homeland proud, picking up two gongs at the 2018 New York Festival International Radio Awards, held in the New York City overnight.

Carnegie took home awards for Best Announcer Presentation and a silver Best History award for his ABC Radio National documentary Fairy Investigation Society which saw Carnegie travelling to Italy and Ireland to delve into rare fairy sightings.

“The awards acknowledge the best radio programs from around the world, and I’m really excited and super grateful to receive these awards.

“Who would have thought that a seemingly far-fetched documentary about a society hunting for fairies would take home the wins!”

Carnegie regularly presents music documentary show ‘Music In Time’ on ABC Classic FM.

It wasn’t the only Aussie win on the night with Guardian Australia receiving a Grand Prize for The Reckoning, a podcast investigating Australia’s child sex abuse commission, which was presented by David Marr and Melissa Davey.
