Audsley named Media Exec of the Year

Staff Writer

Prime Media CEO Ian Audsley has been named Media Executive of the Year, at the Executive of the Year awards ceremony in Sydney.

Audsley won the award from finalists Michael Ebeid from SBS and Peter Bosilkovski from Leo Burnett, and was a popular winner with Prime Media having a table full of company executives with their partners to celebrate at the event.

The awards, created by CEO Magazine, were held at Doltone House in Sydney, and entertainment was provided by jazz singer James Morrison.

Ian Audsley's wife played a cameo role of sorts on the evening. She speaks fluent Spanish, and was enlisted by James Morrison to verify the lyrics of one of the songs that his band performed completely in Spanish. She gave the performance the thumbs up.

The awards were hosted by Triple M's Eddie McGuire who in amongst plenty of Sydney Swans jokes, and a few cracks about his time at Channel Nine, spoke very highly of his time working with Audsley in presenting him with the Award and referred to Audsley as a 'toecutter' in their time together.

CEO Magazine, in congratulating Audsley on his award said;

"Ian was appointed at Prime Media Group when the company was experiencing some financial difficulty and the media industry was being drawn into a period of significant change. The company is now one of the best performing companies in the industry".

"In addition, in March this year, Mr Audsley was instrumental in corralling local media support for the David Rixon Memorial Fund, which was set up in concert with the Police Association of NSW to support the widow and six children of a young country police officer. Senior Constable David Rixon was tragically gunned down while on duty in Tamworth".

The award comes a day after the Prime Media AGM, at which Audsley stated that the Queensland Prime Radio Stations were not for sale (see here).
