The Australian Radio Networks Edge 96.1 has announced a talent search to hire a new on-air presenter, into a full-time role.

In a function, held at The Star in Darling Harbour last night, ARN outlined the nation-wide competition for the new presenter, which will be determined by their "creativity, enthusiasm and talent".

The Edge Content Director Charlie Fox said;

“We’re incredibly excited to launch Edge Star. Specific details on how to enter will be revealed next month, but we’re already anticipating some incredible entries given that The Edge 96.ONE listeners are so loyal and passionate about the station.”

“The winner will not only work for The Edge, they will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet and rub shoulders with celebrities at events like the one we held last night at Boom Box, we will take one listener’s life and change it forever!”

ARN also announced the iHeartRadio will launch the 'Thumbs Up Chart' which will air on The Edge; based on the weekly chart music of users favourite songs on iHeartRadio, the chart will air weekdays at 9am (top 9 at 9), 3pm (3 at 3), 4pm (4 at 4), 5pm (5 at 5) and again at 9pm with a top 9 at 9.

ARN's Head of iHeartRadio Geraint Davies commented;

“The use of up-to-the-minute data given by iHeartRadio users, is an amazing way to immediately integrate their tastes on The Edge"

“It also provides us with solid information regarding what Australian listeners are currently listening to and loving, and this in turn goes on to influence The Edge’s and other ARN station’s playlists.”
