ARIA award the #1’s

On Friday August 10 ARIA will honour local artists who have achieved a #1 single, album or music DVD from August 2010 -> August 2012.

The ARIA #1 Chart Awards haven't run for 2 years, but due to the recent success of many Australian artists it is back.

Acts that will receive awards will include Powderfinger, Guy Sebastian, The Wiggles, Hilltop Hoods, Missy Higgins, Gotye, The Temper Trap, Bliss N Eso, Reece Mastin and Karise Eden.

Over the 2 years, Aussie acts spent 61 weeks in the #1 spot in the singles, album or music DVD charts. 84 singles from Australian artists were awarded gold, platinum or multi-platinum status, 73 individual Australian albums were accredited.

Major sponsor of the event will be 'Songl', another music streaming service entering Australia shortly.

ARIA will also launch their new website at the event. www.ariacharts.com.au will become a hub for fans, media and the record industry to source the latest chart information. Produced by MCM Media it will have some new features, better social integration and more of a focus on video. They are also working on an app that will come out later in the year.
