Journalist Antoinette Lattouf has won her unlawful termination case against the ABC and been awarded $70,000 in compensation.

In delivering today’s judgement, Justice Darryl Rangiah found that the ABC contravened the Fair Work Act in terminating Latouff’s employment – following a social media post about the war in Gaza.

The judge determined the reasons for the termination included that “she held a political opinion opposing the Israeli military campaign in Gaza.”

He rejected the allegation she was fired because of her race.

The case relates to Lattouf’s casual stint as an ABC Radio Sydney presenter in December 2023.
