The Chapters

Category: Branded Podcast of the Year

Submitted by Jack Traynor

The Chapters is a podcast from State Library Victoria which is all about shining a light on some of Victoria’s unsung trailblazers.

Jack says “The goal of the podcast was to transform a series of successful blogs on little-known Victorians from history into a podcast series.”

“We achieved this by creating a narrative audio soundscape illustrating a vignette of the person’s life and then transitioning into an interview with the librarian who wrote the blog.”

The interview is interspersed with documentary-style asides where the host speaks directly to the audience.

Fade Out: Conversations for Men

Category: Best Health and Wellness Podcast

Fade Out: Conversations for Men is an eight-part podcast series designed to engage young men on big topics such as mental health, respect, toxic masculinity and sex.

Hosted by men’s mental health advocate Callum MacPherson and featuring a roster of everyday blokes from South Australia’s Riverland region, the podcast is described as raw, real, and increasingly relevant.

Optus Sport Football Podcast

Category: Best Sport Podcast

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is remembered as one of the most enthralling cultural events in Australia this century.

As host broadcasters, the Optus Sport Football Podcast was front and centre, with an episode published at the end of every game day.

Through each high and low for the 32 nations – including an amazing run by our Matildas – the podcast was stacked with talent, including former Aussie internationals Amy Duggan, Chloe Logarzo, Ash Sykes, Catherine Cannuli and Mark Schwarzer.

The Glam Gizmo

Category: Best Fictional Podcast

The Glam Gizmo is described as a serialised audio drama swirling in science fiction and eccentricity with a dash of horror.

This sub-genre provides escapism for listeners from age 16-25 in mind, while also appealing to wider demographics.

The series began as a community podcast out of SYN Media‘s network from 2019 and has carried on as independent since 2022.
