Andrea Cole: 31 years and counting.

Staff Writer

Longevity is increasingly a rarity in Australian radio.  Sure, there are ‘survivors’ in the world of AM, but on the FM dial, you don’t see that many who rack up the ‘big numbers’.

People come and go with monotonous regularity. You barely learn their name, when there’s a new face in their chair.

So, to have someone reach a ‘significant’ milestone, is a good reason to shout it out and celebrate. And in this case, we turn the spotlight on Andrea Cole.

Andrea today celebrates 31 years with Triple M Melbourne – a staggering achievement and bettered only by Lee Simon and only by a handful of years.

Andrea joined the engineering team at EONFM in 1985 as a trainee tech, servicing 2track and multi-track machines, servicing cart machine and weighting turntables.

This was back at 45 Bank Street in South Melbourne and she was there for 1988’s momentous change to Triple M (one hell of a street party).

She’s now Technical Production Manager and is heavily involved in the AFL broadcasts during the footy season.

And throughout all this; the various owners, the station relocations and advancements in radio technology; Andrea has remained one of the most down-to-earth people going around.

Congratulations, Andrea and happy 31st!!

And as a footnote, BAYFM’s David Collins started at EONFM the same day as Andrea.
