Amy Goggins celebrates 15 years at SCA

Reporter

Newsreader Amy Goggins is celebrating a special milestone this week, notching up 15 years at SCA.

Amy – now SCA’s Sydney News Editor – tells Radio Today she’s proud of her journalistic achievements to date:

“I feel honoured to have been a part of some really special moments within the company both on-air and off over the last 15 years.”

For most of that time, Amy has worked the breakfast shift.

“Whenever anyone would ask me how I managed to get up so early, the answer was simple: The people! I knew as soon as I walked through the doors the fun would start!”

Amy’s career began in her home town of Orange (pictured above) working a weekend shift on 1089AM.

In 2008, she moved to Star FM and 2GZ.

“From there I spent 4 years in Albury reading both local and national news.”

Then came a sea change, with Amy moving to Newcastle, reading news for both KOFM and NXFM.

“After around 18 months in Newy I got the call up for my dream gig in Sydney – breakfast newsreader for 2DayFM.”

“I feel very privileged to have worked on shows with so many amazing, talented people.”

After several years on air, Amy moved into management.

“It is never lost on me what a privilege it is to lead such an incredible group of people as the industry continues to evolve.”

“I’m so proud of the brilliant original work we continue to produce for 2DayFM, Triple M and LiSTNR – including our new news podcast This Arvo in Sydney.”

“I’m excited to continue to lead a passionate group of people, and make sure we have plenty of fun along the way.”

SCA Senior News Manager James Royce says “Amy’s story is a great example of how careers can flourish and thrive at SCA.”

He says Amy’s work ethic is synonymous with the SCA values of Creativity, Collaborations, Courage, Taking Initiative and Acting with Integrity.

“Amy lives and breathes these – and walks the walk every day.”

Amy continues to enjoy the day-to-day adventure that radio provides.

“Radio is the best industry. Not only because every day is different – but because it’s full of so many wonderful, creative people.”
