Ali Plath joins Zinc 96 Breakfast show following talent search

Zinc 96 in Gympie and the Cooloola/ Sunshine Coast has a new Breakfast show, with Ali Plath joining the team.

The Grant Broadcasters’ station had been on the hunt for a new addition to the lineup since Nugget & Al moved to Hot 91’s Drive show.

Zinc 96’s Drive host Steve ‘Bilko’ Bilokin then moved into Breakfast and kicked off a search for an on-air partner.

The station’s listeners had the chance to apply to join the program, as well as ultimately deciding who got the gig, Grant Broadcasters said at the time.

Contenders included former 97.3 FM Breakfast c0-host Mike van Acker, as well as My Kitchen Rules contestant Jenni Ferguson.

Ultimately, however, former Triple M Hobart Breakfast co-host, anchor and panel operator Plath was successful.

Zinc said Plath’s professional and personal life experience, as well as commitment to the local community, will see her become the “unofficial Mayoress of the town in a heartbeat”.

“Bilko has been with the station for 12 years and the audience love him. Now we have Ali joining him, I’m looking forward to working with them both to give the local audience a great start to their day,” Zinc 96 content director, Chris Ivers, said.

Plath added: “I’m beyond ecstatic to have this opportunity with Zinc 96 on my home turf in south-east Queensland. I feel super lucky to have scored Bilko as my next playmate. He’s super experienced, and is a walking radio encyclopaedia.”

The Bilko & Ali for Breakfast show kicked off on Monday.
