Hit95.3 takes the lead in Albany radio ratings

Former Editor & Content Director

Hit95.3 is the new top radio station in Western Australia’s Albany, with 23.0% of survey participants citing it as the station they listen to the most.

It’s the first survey conducted in the region since July 2017.

Since then, ABC Great Southern has fallen 9.3 points to an overall score of 20.5%, while Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) Hit Network climbed 2.3 points to 23.0%, and its Triple M station went up 0.8 to 10.5%.

SCA also had gains in Breakfast. Hit climbed 2.4 points to 22.7%, while Triple M was up 1.2 to 10.5%. The Hit Network plays the syndicated regional WA Breakfast program Allan & Michelle with Allan Aldworth and Michelle Anderson, while Triple M has Anthony for Breakfast, hosted by Anthony Till.

Despite SCA’s gains, it was the ABC on top in Breakfast. It fell a significant 7.5 points in the slot, but held onto the lead with 24.4%. Great Southern Breakfast is presented by Tim Wong-See, who was announced as host late last year.

The ABC had more significant drops across the day, however, falling 15.7 points in Mornings, 10.4 in Afternoons and 9.6 in the Evenings.

The Drive leader was Hit95.3, which climbed 3.9 points to 26.3%, ahead of the ABC which slipped 8.6 points to 16.3%. Triple M was also down 2.0 points in the slot to 9.3%.

SCA’s general manager for WA regional, Ian Kennedy, issued a statement on the performance of his networks.

“Both the Hit and Triple M teams have worked extremely hard for the Albany market and it’s fantastic to see both brands achieve a very positive result and reward for their efforts,” he said. “The Albany community has shown great support for both Hit and Triple M.”

Allan & Michelle are an outstanding brekky duo – hilarious AF but also local focussed so well, despite such a massive area. Well done team and well done to both Hit & Triple M.
