Alan Jones will be back says Ben Fordham

With Alan Jones leaving Sky News this week, Ben Fordham, who replaced him on 2GB, predicts he will be back in the media somewhere soon.

It was widely rumoured that Jones would join 2SM after he spoke on air with John Laws in July, but that rumour fizzled out while presumably Jones continued to negotiate with Sky. Now that he has formally left Sky, 2SM may again become a possibility for Jones.

Fordham reckons Jones will take some time off to spend with his great-nieces and nephews, then may make a return to the media. He did not say where he thought Jones would turn up again.

“It‘s not my business to be commenting on Alan’s future, it’s up to Alan,” Fordham said on air. “But on the question of ‘is this the end of Alan Jones’ career?’, if you think that you don’t know Alan Jones.”

Fordham knows Jones better than most through his family ties and more recently as Jones mentored him to take over the 2GB breakfast show.

Jones left 2GB in May 2020 after 35 years in radio and 226 ratings wins. His stint on television was less successful, with ratings much lower than he was getting on radio.

Alan Jones is 80 why can’t the man just retire! There are plenty of younger conservative voices saying the exact same things he says to the echo chamber. Accept reality and comfortably retire.

Just because he is 80 he should retire? really Ryan! John Laws is 80 and he is still on air – at least they want to work – how about you accept reality Ryan that older people want to work and can work.

If Alan decides to return to breakfast radio, say on 2sm.
It won’t be long before he wipes the floor with 2gb.
Guaranteed.

Ryan, why must Alan Jones retire because “he’s 80”. There are people who want to continue to do things, yet there are people in society that assert that someone that is 80 shouldn’t have a say in society. Ryan, if you get to 80 please ensure you retire and do nothing as that is what you want for others.
