AFTRS goes online for 2020 Open Day this weekend

In line with recent initiatives like their Virtual Postgrad Information Week last month, AFTRS is also taking its annual Open Day online this weekend.

On Saturday, August 8, AFTRS Virtual Open Day will give prospective students and their families virtual access to Australia’s premiere screen and broadcast school. Virtual tours will be on offer and experts tutors will be on hand, to help interested students find out about 2021 courses and enrollment.

Kicking off at 10am, there’ll be Q&As and information sessions about AFTRS’ 2021 offering, which includes the Graduate Diploma in Radio, Industry and Short Courses, AFTRS’ postgraduate program and AFTRS Bachelor of Arts: Screen production.

‘Meet The Mentor’ sessions will take place across the day, where prospective students will hear from members of the Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production team and learn about life as a student.

These sessions have limited spots where booking is encouraged ahead of time, while AFTRS Heads of Discliplines and industry experts will also be available to share their knowledge across the day.

AFTRS’ Joseph Cardona will lead a First Nations session with a conversation with Indigenous students and alumni about opportunities at the School.

“AFTRS remains a flourishing centre of excellence and creativity where, despite the restrictions of Covid-19, there is still so much that’s exciting and innovative happening every day,” said AFTRS CEO Nell Greenwood.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming prospective students and their families and encourage them to join us online on Saturday to meet our teaching staff, students and alumni and get to know our extraordinary school.”

The day concludes with a screening of all five episodes of the hugely popular AFTRS student web series What’s Your Flava, followed by a student panel with Q&A.
