AFTRS students launch brand new pop-up radio station
A group of AFTRS students studying a Graduate Diploma of Radio have launched their third pop-up radio station for 2018, aptly named AFTRS FM.
The entire project is curated and produced by the class of 2018 with the music program focusing on indie/alternative, pop and rock/classic rock genres, while also highlighting Indigenous acts.
“Over 20% of AFTRS FM music is by Australian Indigenous artists, including Baker Boy, Emily Wurramara, Busby Marou, Apakatjah and more. Students are passionate about supporting homegrown music,” AFTRS Head of Radio, Fyona Smith says.
Programming will also feature a series of radio plays produced by AFTRS Screenwriting students.
