AFTRS partners with SBS Radio

AFTRS has partnered with SBS Radio to offer Australia’s first bilingual radio scholarship.

If you’re fluent in Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Kurdish, Hindi, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek or Nepalese, you can apply for the Graduate Diploma in Radio scholarship, which includes a one day per week 12-month placement with SBS Radio.

What’s better, AFTRS and SBS will pick-up the course tab as well.

Director of SBS Radio, Mandi Wicks, said: “Multilingual talent is at the heart of SBS Radio and we are thrilled to be working with AFTRS to encourage and champion further representation.

“We are proud to be leading the way with this Australian-first initiative, a unique opportunity for any budding radio talent, and we look forward to welcoming the successful applicant to the team in 2017.”

AFTRS Program Leader, Radio, Lisa Sweeney, said: “AFTRS greatly values the opportunity to collaborate in this way with SBS Radio for this scholarship. AFTRS and SBS are both committed to encouraging the development of diverse Australian stories and this monetary support for a talented student will assist both organisations to achieve this much-needed diversity.”

Applications close Sunday 15 January – more deets here.
