AFTRS grad Dana Hamilton gets new gig at 2DayFM

Former Assistant Editor
SCA

2DayFM‘s latest hire is AFTRS graduate Dana Hamilton.

Hamilton has landed a gig working as an announcer, in operations, and as a producer for Ash London LIVE and The Danny Lakey Late Show.

She finished AFTRS Graduate Diploma of Radio in 2019, and AFTRS shouted out her new job on its socials.

“We are thrilled to see Dana realise her dream. AFTRS Radio team have no doubt Dana has an exciting career ahead of her.”

Hamilton got started in radio on Student Youth Network in Melbourne two years ago.

“If you’d have told me that two years on I’d be working at 2DAY FM, I wouldn’t have believed you!” she said.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to radio nerd-out at AFTRS last year.

“The experience challenged me, fuelled my creativity, allowed me to network and most of all, confirmed that radio is the right industry for me.

“❤️ I love it and I’m excited to be able to continue to flex my creative muscles with SCA.”

Its about time that AFTRS had a graduate to hit capital city radio first gig.

AFTRS as a whole since Steve Ahern and Simon Kirby, Byron Webb departed (who were apart of careers such as Tim Blackwell NOVA, Smallzy NOVA, Andy Park FOX now TV, Kate Mac Today FM and many others) is totally underperforming.

Looks like its focus has shifted from commercial radio success, and favours more community broadcasting.
