AFTRS offers Digital Producer intensive course for 2020

The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) has offering a number of great courses for people wanting to get into radio, or those wanted to further their existing careers.

Kicking off on January 28 is the new AFTRS Digital Producer Intensive course, a comprehensive short course with the fundamentals and important insights on what it takes to navigate the current digital landscape.

The five-day course will dive into how a digital producer works with wider teams to create digital websites, social media, mobile applications and interactive media. It takes place at AFTRS’ Sydney location in Moore Park.

Attendees will also gain knowledge in the areas of UX, gamification & behaviour change and games.

“The role of a digital producer can vary dramatically depending on the area in which you are working,” says the course description.

“Whether you’re agency-based or in-house, running a start-up or trying to catch up, marketers, account managers and producers are expected to understand the wider opportunities in the digital landscape.”

Learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding the technical lingo and becoming a translator for your clients
  • Tools of the trade: prototyping, project management and team management
  • An introduction to digital production methodologies including waterfall, agile and scrum
  • How to pitch a Digital project/strategy for a target audience

Course tutor Kate Ayrton is an experienced broadcast and digital media producer with a passion for developing engaging transmedia storytelling experiences for brands and products, centred on using the latest technology with a strong focus on UX and human-centred design principles.
