This arvo at Triple M and FOX FM in Melbourne, things took a turn for the worse when a power outage nearby also then took out their back-up generator, resulting in both stations going Off-Air.

Triple M Melbourne was on social media with some videos from their dead as studio, Fox was serving Snapchats and meanwhile Hamish & Andy were joking that it was going to be an early day home from the office; saying that a Best of Show would be going out from 4pm.

Reports from staff said there was a huge bang on Clarendon Street, which took out the entire strip and surrounding offices. The surge created, then most likely then took out their redundancy and back-up systems – the generator also taking a hit. SCA like most networks have strong redundancy system in place, so the surge must have been a beauty.

The flow on effect from the outage also saw SCA’s DAB services cut not only in Melbourne but to other parts of the country that take Triple M Classic Rock, Modern Rock and More Digital and the like.

Both Triple M and FOX are now back. For Triple M, networked Merrick & Australia was beamed in from Sydney and for the FOX and the rest of the network, Hamish & Andy were back On-Air.
