ABC boss shares strategic vision with staff

The Managing Director of the ABC, Mark Scott, is currently doing the rounds of each market to share his strategic vision with staff.

A spokeswoman has told The Australian, "This is an opportunity for him to talk about what is happening (with) the executive and the board and for staff to discuss and ask questions about the 2013 priorities for the ABC – how they align with divisional priorities and the overall ABC strategic plan.”

Mobile content and short form video are new content opportunities with triple j likely to extend from radio into streaming video. Young Australian film and doco makers could have their work "made available on ABC2 and iView,” the spokeswoman said.

The Australian reports that Scott has referenced a recent meeting with Maker Studios – a production company making short-form videos for YouTube.

"They are building large global audiences for this content – for example in October 2012 Maker Studio content was viewed 1.2 billion times on YouTube,” the spokeswoman said.
