Abby Hopkins joins Power FM 949 Breakfast show

Former Editor & Content Director

Grant Broadcasters has announced the replacement for Kaley Baker on Power FM 949’s Breakfast show in Nowra.

Baker left the program to move to Star 101.9 in Mackay, Queensland, while co-host Rachel Zonta is on maternity leave.

In her place at Power FM will be Abby Hopkins, who joins from Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) on the NSW Central Coast. In addition to co-hosting Breakfast alongside Andy Sands, Hopkins will also act as promotions manager.

In addition, Lachy Perry has been appointed as production manager and Workday announcer. It is his first full-time position in radio after completing an AFTRS course last year as well as work experience at KIIS and 2SER.

Peter Andrea has also been appointed as Breakfast journalist. Andrea has been chief of staff for WIN Television in the Central West of NSW and Townsville as well as deputy chief of staff at WIN in the Illawarra. Most recently he has been working in the Riverina region for the ABC.

And finally, Glenn Ellard will replace Katrina Condie as roving news reporter for the station. Ellard has been editor of the Milton Ulladulla Times, a senior journalist at the South Coast Register, and deputy editor of the Riverina Herald.

Condie joined the radio network in October, however after the Black Summer Bushfires, she has decided to spend more time with her family. She now has a new role with RiotACT!

General manager Gavin Flanagan said: “We are bringing a great mix of youth and experience, and we look forward to welcoming them all over the next few weeks.”
