94.9 Power FM’s Sam shaves his head, fights in charity boxing match

Staff Writer

Power FM Brekky presenter Sam Blacker competed in the PCYC Shoalhaven’s Charity Fight night boxing match last weekend.

In the lead up to the fight, Sam not only trained hard but also shaved his head in preparation.

He sold ad space on the back of his head, with ABABY Baby Superstore winning the right to have their name and number written on the back of his head.

When it came to the fight itself, it turned out to be a bloody affair.

“Halfway through I thought I had a runny nose. It was until afterwards when I looked in the mirror and saw blood everywhere that I realised how bad it was,” Sam told Radio Today.

The money raised from the fight went towards the local PCYC and SSPAN the Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention and Awareness Network.

“The best bit was just seeing how much the community got involved with the journey,” he said.

“Picking my name, entry music and coming along on the night”

As for whether he’ll ever get back in the ring?

“I am never doing that again. That was terrifying and my head is still ringing.”
