92.9 raise 9k in mammoth ride

Paul Hogan and Lisa Fernandez from the 92.9 Breakfast show have completed their bike ride for the Kids Appeal for Telethon in Perth. See the picture of them dressed up in the gear with the bikes below (from PerthNow).

The plan was to perform the complete Breakfast show whilst riding bikes through Perth, with donations requested of $100 per kilometre. It may have been a wet and windy morning in Perth, however the show had to go on….and it did.

By 9am, there was another $9,000 in the kick for the Kids Appeal for Telethon, meaning Hogan and Fernandez – along with 92.9 techo Dan Jackson, had ridden 90 kilometres. They had been expecting a 50 kilometre ride, and afterwards Lisa Fernandez commented;

“I’d just like to say anyone who’s ever ridden a bike I hope you are feeling sympathy right now because the last time I rode a bike was 10 years ago”

The cycle ended up in Mandurah, well out of Perth. Whilst the bike ride raised $9,000, the total raised so far into the 2-week campaign is $30,500 which is buying equipment for the children at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth.
