92.7 Mix FM’s ‘Give Me 5 for Kids Appeal’ hits $5 million

Staff Writer

For the last month, the Sunshine Coast team at 92.7 Mix FM have been doubling down on their ‘Give Me 5 For Kids’ appeal to reach their fundraising goal of $5 million over the last 20 years.

This morning the station announced that they’d reached their target, raising another $606,096 for the month of June.

Over 30 individual fundraising events took place during the entire month.

“We set a massive goal this year and the Sunshine Coast got on board. We knew from the start of the month it was going to be big – but this is incredible! After we found out we had reached the $600k for June I’m not sure when Caroline will stop crying,” said Breakfast announcer Mark Darin.

“We get lots of thanks for Give Me 5 for Kids, but the truth is, it’s not our money – it belongs to the Sunshine Coast,” added fellow Breakfast announcer Caroline Hutchinson.

“We promise to use it wisely to KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER, for family accommodation close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital”.

The official announcement of funds raised took place this morning during a special broadcast, beachside from Alex Surf Club.

All money raising will go towards Keeping Families Together, who provide accommodation close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for patients and their families.
