91.1 Hot FM’s Bloody Oath donation drive declared a success

There are 26 million people in Australia, 14.5 million of whom can donate blood.

But only 500,000 people do.

After hearing that stat, the team at 91.1 Hot FM on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast decided to do something about it.

The 91.1 Hot Fm Bloody Oath Donation drive – in conjunction with LifeBlood – has been deemed a success after a 12 hour long broadcast encouraging Sunshine Coasters to get out to their local blood banks and roll up their sleeves.

The numbers are in, and – over a 12-hour period – 170 people took the 91.1 Hot Fm Bloody Oath, generously donating their blood to those in need.

510 lives have been saved as a result of yesterday’s drive.

91.1 Hot FM Breakfast hosts Sam and Ash are thrilled with the result:

“In a time where cash is tight and people are financially struggling, this a way that people can help their community: by rolling up their sleeve and donating blood. One donation saves three lives. If you can, do it!”
