6PR’s Paul Murray set to retire

Staff Writer

After 4 decades working in media, 6PR’s Drive presenter Paul Murray will be calling it a day.

Paul said he felt the time was right for him to step back from full-time work at the end of the year.

“The show is in terrific shape at the moment and I’ve loved my time on 6PR but after a media career that’s spanned four decades it’s time for me to spend a little more time with my wife and travel the world.”

“After informing management of my plans we’ve agreed that I will continue to present Drive until the end of the year and return in 2015 in a fill-in capacity.” Said Paul.

Fairfax Perth General Manager Martin Boylen thanked Paul for his contribution to 6PR and wished him all the best in his retirement from full-time radio. “Paul has been a much-loved and respected part of 6PR since 2001.  Our listeners will certainly miss him, as will everyone at 6PR.  He’s got one of the sharpest minds in the state and he’ll be very difficult to replace.”

The search for a new Drive presenter has commenced and an announcement will be made on his replacement in the near future.
