2Day launch gay marriage petition
Following the move in New Zealand parliament this week to legalise gay marriage, 2Day FM have launched an online petition through change.org to ask for 10,000 signatures.
The petition looks well on track. At the time of writing (10pm friday) the signatures are already nearly half-way to the 10,000.
In launching the petition, 2Day FM said;
Kyle and Jackie O, 2DayFM and New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell have all backed it, and now we need to show our federal leaders that love is love!
On April 17th, the conservative government of New Zealand allowed a conscience vote and became the 13th country in the world to recognise gay marriage.
There is the argument that marriage is for a man and a woman. Just because that is the "traditional" way doesn't make it right.
Stand up and be counted by signing the official petition to legalise gay marriage in Australia.
Share the word with your friends and get them to sign it too.
Let's make this happen now!
Here is the letter that they have written asking people to sign;
You can see the petition, and if you are inclined, sign it here.
2Day have been supporting this issue for some time, below is their marriage equality video from a few weeks ago;
