Lawrence Mooney will suit up on May 28 to host the radio advertising awards.

Finalists for the 16th annual ceremony, which honours excellence and creativity in Australian radio advertising, have also been announced today ahead of the special virtual edition.

The Siren Awards will proceed as a virtual soiree this year, thanks to travel and event restrictions.

Commercial Radio Australia, who organise the honours, confirmed 14 creative agencies from across the country are in the running for the coveted Gold Siren gong.

A diverse range of commercials and campaigns from Tourism Tasmania, Beyond Blue, Carlton Dry, Opera Australia, Suzuki, Sportsbet, Menulog, Uber Eats and Australia Post are shortlisted.

Joan Warner, chief executive of CRA, said the Siren Awards have become a “pinnacle event”.

“While the event will look a little different this year, we are thrilled to still be able to come together to celebrate outstanding radio advertising and we invite everyone to join us online.”

Beyond the Gold Siren, three Silver Sirens will also be awarded for the best radio ads across three categories: single, campaign and craft.

The winners will be decided by the Siren Creative Council, a panel of creative directors from leading ad agencies. An additional client-voted Siren Client Award will also be presented.

The online 2020 Siren Awards ceremony will begin at 4pm AEST on May 28, with viewers able to watch live via the event website from the comfort of your lounge room.
