Zach & Dom’s mission to make Brisbane’s Skyneedle shine again

It’s a Christmas miracle, you might say.

Since taking over Summer Brekkie on KIIS 973, Zach & Dom have been on a mission … to get Stefan’s iconic Brisbane Skyneedle to shine again this Christmas – even just one more time.

Now, after weeks of rallying, Stefan – the iconic Brisbane identity – has committed to getting the Skyneedle to shine again.

Not only that, he wants to get it done right, so it can shine permanently.

The Skyneedle hasn’t shone since it was sold a few years ago.

Zach & Dom’s mission started with a simple video on TikTok, and Zach realising that many Brisbanites never knew that Stefan’s Skyneedle even existed.

Listeners got involved and had their say.

KIIS then got Councillor Kim Marx on board, who said she would contact the Lord Mayor.

The stars aligned and the Lord Mayor threw his support behind the campaign as well.

 Bachelor Girl Tania Doko got behind the team and recorded a parody to her huge hit Permission To Shine.

And Stefan himself came on the show.

There was a live broadcast from the Skyneedle this week.

The café on site at the very bottom of the needle – Miss Claude’s – opened three hours early, giving free regular coffees away throughout the show and 20% discount on food and drink

And newsreader Alana Riley delivered one of the biggest bulletins of her life – Needle News.
