Woody’s off to the jungle

It’s official – the KIIS Network’s Woody Whitelaw is joining the 9th season of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here, the first celebrity to be announced.

Both Will & Woody found out a week ago that only one of them would be joining the cast in the African Jungle, after hosts Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown revealed the news to the duo on-air.

The boys were have spent the past week challenging each other to see who would be the best fit and the most likely to take home the coveted crown of ‘King of the Jungle’.

From eating bugs live on-air to avoid answering embarrassing questions to facing their mortal fears of spiders while hanging out with creepy crawlies in studio, it was clear that Woody would be the one to be heading into the jungle. Will & Woody found out their fate during yesterday’s show, with the news being announced via a ceremonial dunk into a tub of icy cold water.

Woody says “There are mixed emotions to be heading into the jungle. I’m obviously excited to be getting a free flight to South Africa and becoming best mates with some cool celebs, but there is also the reality of being away from my girls for an extended period of time. I haven’t been away from Rem for over three days since she was born, so I really don’t know how I’m going to handle that.”

Will McMahon says “I am so glad it is Woody going into the jungle – he is, and will always be, the best of the two of us, so we’re putting our best foot forward. Plus, with a one-year-old daughter, who has a penchant for earthworms, I feel like I am already there.”

While Woody is in the jungle, Will McMahon is set to be joined by a special co-host, to be announced over the coming weeks.
