Whatever happened to Guido Hatzis?

He was the multi ARIA award winning Greek-Australian Adonis.

A staple of the Triple M program Crud in the 90s, his outrageous claims about his looks and abilities were legendary.

Whatever happened to Guido Hatzis? And would he still fly today?

The character was created and voiced by Tony Moclair, now the host of 3AW’s Australia Overnight.

Tony was asked on the latest Food Bytes podcast what his old alter-ego is up to these days.

“People ring up and occasionally ask to speak to him overnight, which is always fun to do.”

“But in terms of appearances – I can’t remember the last one. I think I did it for a mate’s 60th.”

Tony confirmed there are no plans for a Guido revival anytime soon.

“There’s been the occasional popping up here and there. But I’m very happy to leave the wig and the tracksuit in the bottom drawer.”

“Every time I look at the wig, I’m reminded of the girl I was dating when I did a lot of Guido appearances, and the question she was asked most often was ‘Does he wear the wig when … ??’”

Guido Hatzis was nominated twice for an ARIA and won both times – for his albums Do Not Talk Over Me and Whatever.
