Troy Ellis today marked an incredible personal milestone on Triple M’s Marty Sheargold Show, celebrating 30 years in radio.

With his trademark wit, humour and vibrant personality, Troy is much loved among his radio colleagues and well-known as one of the industry’s most successful anchors and announcers.

His most notable work includes The Fox’s The Matt & Jo Show and Triple M’s Marty Sheargold Show, which he has anchored since its inception in January 2021.

Marty and the team pulled off a fitting surprise this morning, with festivities rolling out across the show to help celebrate the milestone.

The show also included a collection of Troy’s greatest on-air moments and memories.

The festivities included special guest appearances from Matt Tilley, Jo Stanley, Adam Richard, Stick Mareebo and Max Gawn, who all joined the show to honour Troy’s 3 decades in radio.

Jo referred to Troy as her “work husband” and spoke about his love of travelling, whilst Max Gawn presented Troy with a thoughtful gift: a model aeroplane.

Matt Tilley brought in an incredible cake for the celebration, regaling the team with stories of pranking Troy during their days on-air together.

SCA Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron says “Troy Ellis is a Melbourne radio institution, having been a critical part of many leading Breakfast shows over the last 30 years, and still one of the best show anchors in Australian radio.”

“Our huge congratulations to Troy on an ongoing remarkable run on-air entertaining generations of Melbourne listeners.”

Troy says “I can’t believe it’s been 30 years! What a ride to be a part of some extraordinary shows and to work alongside amazing talent.”

“It’s truly been a pleasure, and continues to be here at Triple M. How good to be able to do what I still love all these years later, it’s wonderful.”

Marty Sheargold said to Troy on-air “On a personal note, I’ve loved working with you. I would say more than I’ve enjoyed working with anyone in that role that you do. Your professionalism, even-handedness, maturity, and temperament are just a joy to be around and work with.”

“Thank you, buddy. You’ve been an absolute breath of fresh air for me.”
