Triple M’s Strawny loses his locks for charity

Triple M’s Strawny has shaved his hair for a good cause, raising much needed funds for leukaemia research with the World’s Greatest Shave.

The Port Macquarie community decked out the Port City Bowling Club on Saturday to support the charity drive – and get a glimpse of Strawny’s luscious locks getting the chop.

Strawny says he was ready to take the plunge:

“I have recently made some adjustments to my hair and my mates aren’t loving it, so I thought I’d get rid of it on the proviso that I’m doing it for a good cause!”

Local Mayor Peta Pinson and Councillor Danielle Maltman also joined the event to support Strawny’s big shave.

Strawny’s campaign has raised over $13,000 in online donations (and counting) for the Leukaemia Foundation.

“We are so lucky in Port Macquarie to have organisations like Self Seen, the men’s mental health group, or Port Macquarie Women’s Connect and Lifeline Mid Coast. It’s not a situation anyone wants to find someone they love in, but we’re so lucky to be in a community that rallies behind our own.”

“My goal was to raise more than $10,000 – it’s unbelievable that we’ve smashed that number! For people to donate, especially in these tough times, shows how great our community is and how much people want to help. Every dollar matters and I’m really proud that we’re able to support the Leukemia Foundation in this way. Port Macquarie always turns up for a worthy cause – it’s why we love our community.”
