“Triple M leads as the #1 station (P10+ and P25-54), with Triple M Breakfast, hosted by Tanya and Steve, continuing their winning streak as the #1 Breakfast show for Newcastle. No other show in the market comes close to matching their engaging and entertaining locally focused content.”

Newcastle needs competition. Now that the owners of the Super Radio Network have deceased the executors should think seriously of selling the network or plowing in money into marketing and programming the network to compete.

Thanks John that’s really exciting! I love when an old Sydney radio station is resurrected in another town and completely online.. it makes the irrelevant, non accessible – now you just have to play obscure tracks at odd times and you can have the whole world wide web tuning out.

@James It’s to my understanding that the Caralis children now own the Super Radio Network, following the recent deaths of Bill & Pamela.

Having said that, it wouldn’t overly surprise me if the network became sold and/or split up in the next 2-3 years…although 2SM Sydney would have to be worth next to nothing these days!

As for Newcastle’s radio ratings, a lack of effective competition + a strong legacy breakfast show on 102.9 are the main factors keeping SCA’s duopoly relevant in this market. 2HD and New FM seem to be little more than “feeder” stations for a wider regional network.
