Triple M NRL team thanks AFL counterparts for “traditional warm up to the Grand Final”

The Sydney-Melbourne rivalry is never felt more than at Footy Finals time – and that battle has moved from the field to the radio waves.

Here’s what Triple M had to say on the matter…

The Triple M NRL Grand Final commentary team would like to thank our Triple M AFL counterparts for again providing capable coverage in the traditional warm up to the Grand Final. Whist the main action remains in the Harbour City, it’s always good to see our southern mates giving it good Aussie go.

This weekend’s extended NRL coverage includes 780 minutes of NRL coverage and kicks off with the Triple M Grill Team’s No BS Grand Final Lunch Friday (including a performance by The Living End who will play one more song than they did for Eddie). This is followed by the debut of the Triple M Footy Voice winner calling the Holden Cup Final, Triple M core artist Macklemore performs live and of course at 8pm(ish), Far North and Far South Queensland slog it out for the premiership.

Every second of the footy can be heard on Triple M Sydney and networked regional stations including Triple M Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne along with twenty-something footy-mad stations around the country. The call will be broadcasted on Digital Radio and can be heard across the planet on the Triple M NRL App.

The weekend line-up includes footy legends Gorden Tallis, Ryan Girdler (who has played more NRL games for Australia than the entire Melbourne commentary team combined), Brett Finch, Ben Hannant, Bill “Hollywood” Harrigan, Jamie Soward, Paul Gallen and expert third-person comments from Wendell Sailor.

Analysis, jibber and padding this year comes from Dan Ginanne, Anthony Maroon, Tony Squires, Paul Kent, James Hooper and Ben Dobbin. That’s an impressive five more people than the AFL coverage can offer.

But again, the support from Melbourne is appreciated … as Triple M Rocks the Rugby.
