Toni and Ryan nominated for Webby Award

Australian podcasters Toni and Ryan are up for Best Comedy Podcast Episode at the 29th Annual Webby Awards.

Hailed as the internet’s highest honour by The New York Times, The Webbys are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) and recognise online excellence.

“Nominees like Toni and Ryan are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the internet,” said Nick Borenstein, General Manager of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best this year.”

The awards will be hosted by Ilana Glazer on May 12 in New York City.

Toni said “I AM SO EXCITED for the nomination but also to get a phone call of congratulations from Ilana Glazer, who I assume will call any moment.”

After winning the Listeners Choice Award at the Australian Podcast Awards last year, it’s clear Toni and Ryan fans (or TARPers as they call themselves) are an extremely dedicated community.

Ryan said “Let’s be real: the only reason we’re up for a Webby is because our TARP community is the best on the internet. Without TARPers sharing their stories, making memes, coming to events and listening to the podcast every day, this show and this community wouldn’t be what it is! So THANKS SO MUCH for being a TARPer.”

Other podcast Webby Award nominees this year include The Oprah Podcast, The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and Smartless with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.
