Toni and Ryan hit five million downloads in five months
Toni & Ryan smashed a major milestone on Friday with their podcast cracking five million downloads in five months.
The podcast, which Toni Lodge and Ryan Jon only launched in August last year, enjoyed its biggest month in February with over 1.3 million downloads. That number was likely helped by the pair’s enormous, and growing, social media following with almost two million between them.
The podcast’s content has proven a viral hit online too, with their Instagram Reels and TikTok videos featuring best bits from the show surpassing 30 million views in February and more than one billion views since the podcast’s first episode.
“’I’m really excited and just so happy,” Lodge said.
“I never thought I’d get that many downloads or views online without a sex tape, so I’m glad we still have that up our sleeve.”
Jon said if someone had told him that the podcast would reach even one million listens in the first year, he likely wouldn’t have believed them.
“To have 1.3 million listens in the month of February alone is staggering,” Jon said. “The momentum just keeps increasing.”
“The more people listen to the podcast, the more they are getting involved and sharing their stories with us and telling friends to listen, which makes the show even bigger and better.”
“Considering it’s still just the two of us doing this after hours, we’re really proud.”
The pair met at ARN, where Jon now hosts workdays on KIIS FM Melbourne after an extended break from breakfast radio and Lodge was, until recently, a producer for the station’s former breakfast show with Jase & PJ.
Following three “awkwardly long” years of early starts, Lodge made the decision to quit and have a “solid crack” behind the microphone.
Toni & Ryan, who refer to each other as “just good friends,” launched the podcast on August 23 with an episode titled ‘T-Pain and Tinder Bios’ after a series of videos recorded after hours in the KIIS FM Richmond studios went viral on TikTok and Instagram with almost 100 million views.
The podcast was quickly snapped up by ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia and, surprising even themselves, climbed official podcast charts in Australia and abroad – including Top 5 on Spotify’s Overall Chart and Top 5 on Apple Podcasts’ coveted Comedy Chart.
Each week Toni & Ryan deliver their take on almost everything – the good, the bad, and the awkward – to hundreds of thousands of listeners from around the world who have discovered the podcast and fallen head over heels for their comedic chemistry and awkward encounters.

Yes!!!! These two are legends and deserve all the success they get. I have had the pleasure to work with them in the past and they are both exceptionally hard working and full of ideas and personality. Amazing content creators and amazing humans. Go Toni & Ryan!!!!!!
I tried it after all the forced press and it’s the same every episode. Canned fake laughter – biggest radio note guys, authenticity!
The radio networks spent all this time looking for the boyz so they can pair up the next Hamish and Andy but Ryan and Toni were right there all along.
The best aussie content around that’s not a radio show.

How are they getting these listens?? I am an avid podcast listener and these guys never pop up. Nobody I know listens to them either.

This has become my go to must listen to podcast. I love Toni and it’s about time that there is someone like her around. Telling it like it is, down to earth. Go girl.
Their podcast has been featured on Spotify quite heavily so that is where the listening must be from. And good old “ word of mouth “ It is fun to listen to.
Both incredibly hard workers with an amazing product. SO excited to see them both succeed!
Anyone claiming “I haven’t heard of them, how could they have these numbers” does not understand how the internet and niches work and also probably don’t understand how different demographics are targeted for content that works for them. They also probably don’t have access to tiktok, which is where these two blew up.
Be happy for the success. If it’s not your thing don’t moan about it, go be successful yourself.

There is nothing like this on radio. They have chemistry and it’s very funny. Toni is hilarious. Lots of LOL moments. The knockers should have a listen then form an opinion.
Ryan is a wonderful warm person, inside he is a stunning guy who has never had an impure thought ever. World class content drips from his soul. The chemistry of these guys is about as good as Bert and Graham. I find them both interesting and naturally funny, they probably don’t even think about the podcast before or after it. That’s how gifted they are. In a crowd of Tony Martin, John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson, and Ricky Gervais I would be drawn as if by some unexplained show biz force… an energy if you will, for a chat or to intro myself I would choose these guys again and again. If these numbers don’t hook you, then the laughs will. Why this show isn’t at least on CBAA network, is beyond me. Numbers don’t lie guys. Especially when you consider the source. Congrats all involved.

Both products of working in regional WA at SCA. You have to work your backside off but can be so rewarding.
Ryan smashed it doing brekky radio for a couple of years… Toni was amazing as an audio producer and imaging producer while at the same time swearing her head off and just being plain loveable in a “I will smash you if you don’t love me dammit” sort of way!
Their paths never crossed (I think there’s a 6 month period where they just missed each other) but I love that they have formed this amazing podcast.
So bloody pleased for them!

peeps strike a cord with listeners and amass a large following and some commentators here, decide to take shots and tear them to pieces. Why on earth would anyone do that. Full credit to you both. Toni you have won me over with your wit and humour. Don’t change a thing.

Not unusual to get a million views, it happens all the time. I’m sure these statistics would be correct. Doesn’t surprise me at all.
Guess it’s possible to buy social followers AND downloads. The numbers are about as real as The Tinder Swindler’s quest to find love, Anna Delvey’s fortune or Trump’s tan.
