The moment The Rubens were crowned

16,000+ songs voted on, 2 mil plus votes from over 170 countries, The Rubens song ‘Hoops’ was crowned #1 by triple j listeners.

With heaps of parties around the country, in its 23rdyear triple j’s Hottest 100 for 2015 was run Australia Day.

On The Rubens taking the top spot, triple j’s Content Director Ollie Wards said of the song “Dropping in July 2015, the song’s four to the floor beat and sing along lyrics make it a total earworm for triple j listeners. Despite it being a slower song for the band, ‘Hoops’ always gets the crowd moving at their awesome live shows. After just a few listens the song makes you feel like you’ve been hearing it for years. That familiarity combined with The Rubens trademark RnB-meets-blues-rock swagger got it to 2015’s Hottest 100 #1.”
