The Music Network Chart Wrap: July 9
Hot 100
Taylor Swift stays at #1 on the Hot 100 for another week with Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar but that could soon come to an end with The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face posing a serious threat, moving to #2 from #8 this week. Little Mix’s Black Magic also sees healthy movement to #3 from #6 while Deorro & Chris Brown’s Five More Hours returns to the #7 from #10.
Galantis’ Peanut Butter Jelly sees a strong second week in the Hot 100 at #15 up from its debut point at #31, as does L’Tric’s This Feeling which earns #33 from #68. Lost Frequencies also see a giant leap this week, landing at #36 from #82, though it’s only just slightly outdone by Aston Merrygold’s Get Stupid, which makes a move to #31 from #94, a total of 63 stations and this week’s most added.
Two debuts make their way into the Top 50 this week with Vance Joy’s Great Summer entering at #40 and Silento’s Watch Me at #48. Pia Mia’s Do It Again featuring Chris Brown only just narrowly misses out on the Top 50, debuting at #52.
ARIA Singles
Meghan Trainor holds fast at #1 on the ARIA Singles chart this week with Like I’m Gonna Lose You featuring John Legend. At #2 from #4 – and at it’s peak – is Rachel Platten’s Fight Song, while moving up to #4 from #13 this week is The Weeknd’s I Can’t Feel My Face. Given the success this chart is seeing on the digital and airplay charts, it’s likely that this could very well be next week’s #1, no doubt earning a Gold certification along the way. Entering The Top 10 at #6 from #22 is Robin Schulz’s Headlights featuring Ilsey and makes for Schulz’s highest charting track, beating Sun Goes Down which peaked at #7 in February of this year. Selena Gomez sees a healthy debut at #16 with Good For You featuring A$AP Rocky while RÜFÜS debuts at #22 with You Were Right.
ARIA Albums
A new debut takes #1 this week with John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John’s Two Strong Hearts earning the highest entry. The debut gives the artists their ninth and third #1 albums on the chart, respectively. It also marks their second #1 together, the first being Highlights From The Main Event which saw Anthony Warlow collaborate as well. The next debut comes at #7 from the aforementioned Thy Art Is Muder with Holy Warfollowed by Tori Kelly’s Unbreaking Smile and Refused’s Freedom at #10. Outside the Top 10, London Grammar’sIf You Wait sees a re-entry at #13 follwing a stint outside the Top 50 in recent weeks. The re-entry is no doubt attributed to the performance of the track on The Voice by contestant Amber Nichols.
