The Music Network Chart Wrap: December 2

Hot 100

It looks like it’s the week of Adele with the singer now topping the chart for a second week straight with Hello. Justin Bieber sees a small gain at #3 from #5 though it’s unlikely Adele will be moving anytime soon. Shawn Mendes makes for the only notably entry into the Top 10 at #9 from #13 after weeks of steady progress in the Hot 100 with Stitches.

Guy Sebastian has a strong second week on radio with Black & Blue moving up to #13 from #45. 99 Souls’ The Girl Is Mine featuring Destiny’s Child & Brandy take #3 up from #61 on its second week in the chart, as does Fleur East’s Sax at #39 from #73.

Most moved this week is a new Justin Bieber single taken from Purpose. The trackLove Yourself jumps to #21 from #62, a total of 41 places.

One debut makes it into the Top 50 this week wit Elle King’s Ex’s & Oh’s making the debut at #44. Troye Sivan’s Youth narrowly misses out at #52.

ARIA Singles

Adele remains at #1 on the ARIA Singles chart with Hello for what is now week five. It maintains its hold as her old #1 charting single Someone Like You re-enters at #41. It leads ahead of Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself which takes over Sorry at #2 from #3.

X Factor winner Cyrus debuts at #4 with Stone while Shawn Mendes’ Stitches takes #6 form #10, sitting comfortably on a Gold accreditation.

Rudimental jumps to #12 from #18 with Lay It On Me featuring Ed Sheeran, moving just ahead of Adele’s When We Were Young, which debuts at #13.

Vance Joy returns to #20 from #35 with Fire And The Flood following the hype surrounding his support slot on Taylor Swift’s current tour of Australia.

One late notable debut comes at #3 with Major Lazer’s Be Together featuring Wild Belle thanks to the group’s current tour of the country as a headlining act of Stereosonic.

ARIA Albums

Adele scores her second #1 on the ARIA Albums chart this week as 25 debuts with triple Platinum accreditation. It follows 21 which peaked at #1 in May of 2011 and now currently sits at #7 while other album 19 sits at #13. 25’s debut makes for the highest selling debut week in over 10 years and also gives Adele another week of concurrently topping the Albums and Singles chart – the first time this happened was in 2011 with single Someone Like You and album 21.

Adele debuts ahead of Justin Bieber’s Purpose and One Direction’s Made In The A.M.,which both move down to #2 and #3 respectively. Michael Buble’s Christmasmoves closer to #1 again at #4 from #6. The second debut this week is from Enya at #8 with Dark Sky Island, her first album in seven years.

Samantha Jade’s Nine debuts at #11 followed by Human Nature’s The Christmas Album and Tracy Chapman’s Greatest Hits at #12 and #14 respectively.
