The Hot Breakfast vs Chrissie, Sam & Browny: Who wore it better?

Former Assistant Editor

Triple M’s The Hot Breakfast typically ends with Wil Anderson awarding 3-2-1 votes for best-on-ground on the day, in a segment called the Brown Wil O’s.

Before Wil gave out his votes today, he revealed that a listener had called in to let Triple M know that Nova 100 Breakfast were doing a similar awards segment.

“Chrissie, Sam & Browny… I know those guys. I can’t imagine that they would have ripped off our idea,” said Wil.

“So I must have accidentally ripped off their idea.”

Then came the clip with audio from Nova Breakfast, and a “new segment” called “Chrissie, Sam & Browny’s ‘Brownlow Votes’.”

“Ohhh c’mon guys… you can’t do that,” said Eddie.

They listened to the rest of the clip, with Wil deciding that the imitation probably wasn’t intentional, and even suggesting a name for it – ‘The Chrissie, Sam and Brownie-lows’.

As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…

Haha this reminds me of that time I was listening to Kennedy Molloy and they were running a competition where listeners had to ring up and try and make Mick laugh. And I thought f$&k where have I heard that before.

PS good gear with the fried rice stuff, bloody hilarious. Completely racist, but hilarious

Fried rice is a reference to Dunstall and Quartermain’s tiff back in ‘09 (its the ten year anniversary this week) poor choice of singling out Pang but certainly not malicious https://youtu.be/uzeO_DsI9io

The fried rice joke is a Triple M Footy reference when Jason Dunstall piffed a box of fried rice in a fit of rage at Stephen Quartermain. Frequently played/referred to.

So relax, no open press conference in the SCA Boardroom on Monday to respond to that one.
